Recently God spoke a good, good word to me. In the world of influencer blogging that I have immersed myself into, it is so easy to get caught up in comparing yourself, and your life, to others. Social media has completely changed the way that we view not only others, but, ourselves.
I never want to be the girl that someone looks at and says, “wow she has it all together!”. That could be farther from the truth. I feel that in today’s society and especially with social media, it’s easy for everyone to share the best parts of their lives. After all, why would someone share about one of their worst days, or a photo of themselves that they weren’t absolutely in love with or proud of.
I started my blog in the winter of 2014, mainly comprised of faith based stories and inspirational blogs that I felt were important to sharing with others. Although it has turned in to more of a lifestyle, beauty, and sometimes even fashion blog, I never want to stray too far from my roots. I think that blogging has become a big part of my life because I have always loved to write, and I love sharing good products and brands that I have found with others.
I follow many other influencers who are desiring to do the same for their followers. However, it can be very, very hard to not get caught up in comparing my life with the others. There will always be someone that looks more put together than you, prettier than you, wealthier than you, etc.
John 10:10 says the enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy. I get emotional even as I write this, because I want my blog to be about encouraging, inspiring, and uplifting other women.
Comparison is a thief. It is a word from Satan himself, only meant to tear you down and/or make you feel bad or even forgetful about what God has already given you. I hope that my followers will forever know how beautiful, amazing, and inspiring that they truly are! Each individual has so much to give. That’s what makes our world go round.
All in all, if you get nothing else from this post, it is to know that comparison is a thief. It will get you nowhere. And it will distract you from the realization and the blessing of what you’ve already been given.
If you’re struggling with comparison, please know that you are beautiful, sweet girl. You are more than enough. You are more precious than diamonds in the eye’s of our Creator – and that’s all we’ll ever need.
“She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.” – Proverbs 3:15
