It was about this time last year when I started to have a total breakdown about my job. I remember coming home every night, bawling my eyes out to my husband – because I knew it just wasn’t for me. How was I supposed to leave such an amazing organization that I cared so deeply about? What would they think if I told them I was leaving?
These questions raced through my head, day in and day out, until finally something gave way inside of me to take a leap of faith and do something that I’d always dreamed of doing – starting my own business. I wanted to use my advanced degree in my field, because, well, why else did I go to further my education? I knew it had to happen, and now was the time.
Taking a leap of faith. Sometimes, it seems like the hardest, most impossible thing to do – but please let me be your encouragement… YOU CAN DO IT.
I look back now, almost a year later, at where my life is and how far I’ve come and I can’t even believe it. What if I hadn’t decided to leave? I would have wasted even more time doing something that wasn’t even fulfilling me, instead of working to be where I am now.
Hear me when I say this – LIFE IS TOO SHORT. What are you holding back from? What’s that one dream that you so badly want to make a reality but seems like it just too far out of reach? What can you do each day to make that dream closer to a reality? I must say, it’s not always an easy process. It might seem like one day you wake up and say, “OK! Today’s the day. Let’s do it!” But, that’s only step one. It takes time and hard work to get there. I still have days when I think, “What in the world have I gotten myself into? It would be so much easier to just go back to a regular 9-5 job and go through the motions to have the comfort of financial stability, or other things that you give up when you start your own business or take a chance on the unknown.”
But – I BELIEVE IN YOU. And I want you to believe in you, too! I know it’s cliché but you know the old saying goes, “You can do anything you put your mind to,” and I firmly believe in that 100%. It ALL comes down to mindset and attitude. Once I got out of my own head and placed my fears and worries to the side, it all became so much clearer from there. I knew what I had to do. Now, what are YOU waiting for? Let’s starting planning for a successful 2018, and turning our dreams… into reality!
