My hair has always been super important to me. Around freshman year in high school, I went blonde and after doing so, I’ve never gone back! 😉
Being a high-lift platinum blonde means my hair has experienced some damage over the years of highlighting and coloring. I’ve always tried to take care of my hair to the best of my ability, using only the best products in shampoo, conditioner, and strengtheners, however, I’ve always had pretty thin hair, and again, with the processing, my hair is affected each time. I’ve always longed for length in my hair and fullness, so that’s why I’ve fallen in love with extensions!

My first time trying extensions was in May of last year, when I tried tape-ins. This is basically where your hair is sandwiched between two pieces of “tape-in glue” attached to wefts of hair. I wasn’t the biggest fan of this method. The look of my hair was amazing, but it is very high maintenance and not the most comfortable. That’s why I was thrilled to find Gemini Hair and their Microbead Extensions!

These were definitely easier to install, and one of the most frequently asked questions from my Instagram Stories “Q&A” was how long do they take to install? Alex at Fringe Hair Salon had them pretty much all installed within 45 minutes, however, it does depend on your hair type and how many extensions you’re having installed. I got the 5 pack, which included 125 “strands” and only used two packs since my hair is so thin!

The cost of these extensions was another question that I got, and it all depends on how many packs you purchase and whether or not your stylist has all of the supplies they need. You can see all of the products from Gemini by clicking here.

Gemini was great to work with, answering all of the questions that I had in a timely manner. The girls at Gemini are so sweet, and I hope if you are considering getting extensions installed, you’ll consider Gemini. I was very pleased with the quality and color of the hair. It blended almost perfectly with my natural hair color.

*One last thing that I do want to note to be completely transparent, is that I did have some of the extensions fall out a few days after installing. This is not due to the quality of the product, or the way that they were installed. Both of those things were perfect 🙂 My hair type is to blame, because it is just so thin that some of them easily slid through. My suggestion is that if you do decide to go with the Microbead method, make sure that your hair is thick enough to hold in the loop. If you have naturally thin hair, you may want to consider a different type of extension. Gemini has several different kinds! Be very cautious when washing and drying your hair, and make sure that you are not using conditioners or oils at the root, as the extensions will easily slip out that way.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any additional questions on extensions! I am hopeful to try several different methods in the future, and compare them all in another blog post for you!

A HUGE thank you to Gemini Hair for sponsoring the product for this blog. THANK YOU to Alex Gillihan at Fringe Hair Salon for installing them for me. Alex is my go-to gal in Evansville for extensions! She also did my tape-ins. Thank you to Rachel Biggs of Plum Portraits Photography for these amazing photos!
