For quite some time now, my husband and I have been dreaming about our plans for the home we bought in August of 2016. Over the past couple of years, we’ve taken home renovations a project at a time, and we are so excited to share the final look of our bedroom renovation!
When we bought our home, we changed quite a bit, including the flooring throughout the house. The home was built in 1996 and we were pretty sure that the rooms that still had carpet meant it was the original – and was over 20 years old. We knew we eventually wanted to take up what was left of the carpet, which included the two guest bedrooms and the master bedroom. We FINALLY got rid of that nasty old stuff, and the rest was pretty easy.
Just seeing our room without the carpet made such a huge difference. When we moved in, the only piece of bedroom furniture I purchased was a $60 Walmart chest, which fell apart piece by piece over two years. I had never purchased bedroom furniture when we bought the house because I knew that the carpet was coming up eventually, and I wanted to eliminate heavy moving and lifting as much as possible, so I just toughed it out, as my chest came down to having only one pull out drawer left. It was pretty pitiful.
Last fall, we did the flooring in our bathrooms to cover up old, outdated tile, and we used the exact same flooring in the bedrooms to keep the hardwood look throughout the whole house.
Needless to say, the new flooring, bedroom furniture, addition of blinds, a new bed set, floor length mirror and 50″ TV above the fireplace makes it finally feel like home. <3
